My mini is a 2012 mini with 2.6ghz intel core i7 quad, 16 gigs ram, and the fusion drive. Anybody having stuff like that with S1v2? My only thoughts now are to try another daw and compare, or try it on an older version of the OS. ![]() GFXCARDSTATUS FOR MAC 10.6 WINDOWSOn windows I have none of these gui problems, but numerous other issues. I would test it on my old macbook with osx 10.6 if it was working.įor my issue I'm leaning towards the S1 being the problem as everything else in the OS runs fine. I have also tested this on another imac running 10.8.2 and it does the same thing. This happens with nothing installed on my machine using bare bones studio one. When I say gui slowdown I mean when you click and drag the mixer it doesn't respond for like 2 seconds then jumps to the location of my mouse. I'm not completely sure if it's studio one or the OS itself, but I am experiencing lots of crashes, gui slowdown when moving the mixer, editor, or other S1 windows. I'm having issues with os 10.8.2 and 10.8.3. GFXCARDSTATUS FOR MAC 10.6 UPDATEAnd we can ask plugin devs like Slate Digital to hustle their framework update so VTM can be brought into step with current OSX API's and hopefully that particular offender in the 'gui lag' workflow wars goes away. GFXCARDSTATUS FOR MAC 10.6 DRIVERThankfully Nvidia & ATI support is at least baked in for even non-Mac EFI prepped cards and Nvidia even offers driver downloads from their site. ![]() GFXCARDSTATUS FOR MAC 10.6 DRIVERSSomething that works fine on my lowly 2007 era Macbook Pro will have framebuffer issues on an iMac or newer machine and not work at all on an Intel IGP, and the difference turns out more often than not to be which has drivers more in step with the current builds of Xcode and whatever application is hosting the composition. So my assertion was that certain GPU's are very buggy under some OS versions but not others, and to what degree you see certain bugs depends entirely on what mixture of programs & plugins you're using, right? I can easily see this when building Quartz Composer compositions (which I use in Resolume, VDMX & Modul8 etc). That doesn't mean that *all* configurations are accounted for equally though, right? Checking the ProApps framework version and confirming the 'bugs' for Logic's GUI lag gave 1:1 evidence that machines that were too far out on their ProApps framework had the worst GUI lag. Not only do I need to stick with usually 1-2 specific GPU's for a given application, I also have had to keep track of OS frameworks & components related to OpenGL, QuartzGL & Quartz Extreme quite frequently. Thankfully most of the newer features aren't targeting anything that would limit Logic's GUI performance, so that's a bit of a tangent which I'll let sit, but it has affected my workflow in the past.ītw I actually *use* graphical applications like Maya, Combustion/Flame, Nuke & so on as frequently as my audio applications. It's easy to compare specific shader extensions & opengl extensions across all 3 OSes and OSX doesn't even have current support for OpenGL 4. Anything older than that won't actually launch Final Cut Pro X and Logic's system requirements used to specifically say no Intel IGP's until the HD3000/4000 based graphics i5/i7 laptops came along.Īlso Apple's update of vendor supplied changes isn't even in step with the same driver versions on the 'windows' and now linux side of the world. This is especially the case for pre-2009/8 era machines, which your g92 based 8800GT is just on the edge of. It might seem surprising I guess, but Apple's support for their latest API changes can be very spotty when it comes to GPU driver support across their product lines. ![]() GFXCARDSTATUS FOR MAC 10.6 CODEThe nvidia & amd/ati driver support comes via Apple taking code supplied to them and 'rolling it in' to OS updates which now also carry framework updates and other components that were formerly separate installs (so you could track what was being deployed manually if it conflicted with Applications you use or etc). But that isn't really my point.you can get indignant all you want and it doesn't change this: My system can play 3D games and animate complex Maya crap if i need it to.Sounds like you're in a huff over a G92 card that's not really as powerful as you're making out anyway. The idea that suddenly my graphics card is not capable of working properly to animate some spinny wheels or when it's fine in 10.6 is bananas. ![]()
